Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Monomer (EPDM) rubber is terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and non-conjugated diolefins. It widely used for automotive parts, building waterproof material, wire and cable sheathing and heat-resistant hose etc.
EPDM have high aging resistance, high corrosion resistance, low density and high filling, therefore, EPDM can produce rubber compounds with low cost. But it’s extremely flammable (LOI is around 18).
Magnesium hydroxide is an inorganic additive flame retardant, Top have developed a special flame retardant EPDM for magnesium hydroxide which can improve EPDM’s flame retardancy and low smoke, no dripping.
