Magnesium Hydroxide uses for Fiber Reinforced Plastics


Magnesium hydroxide is a good flame retardant material for Fiber Reinforced Plastics.
It can increase additive quantity after modified by coupling agent in order to lower the cost.

1. Magnesium hydroxide can enhance flame retardancy and smoke suppression.
2. MDH and ATH are similar when heated. They both create water and metal oxide. Water absorbs heat, and metal oxide covers the surface. But MgO absorb more acid with better effect.
3. Magnesium hydroxide (MDH) degrades at 330℃, 100℃ higher than Aluminum Hydroxide (ATH) does, so MDH can resist higher temperature for special plastics.
