Magnesium hydroxide flame retardant is a pollution-free environmentally friendly flame retardant currently being promoted. The thermal decomposition temperature of magnesium hydroxide is up to 340 °C, which is nearly 140 °C higher than the commonly used inorganic flame retardant aluminum hydroxide, which can make the synthetic material added with magnesium hydroxide to withstand higher processing temperature and facilitate the speed of extrusion. Shorten the molding time, and also help to improve the flame retardant efficiency, and the magnesium hydroxide flame retardant is compatible with other traditional additives of the polymer such as colorants, antioxidants, ultraviolet absorbers, reinforcing agents, lubricants, etc. Therefore, magnesium hydroxide can be widely used in the fields of polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, high impact polystyrene and ABS, as a flame retardant for plastics and various modified materials, and because of its special effects. Smoke, arc extinguishing, antistatic effect, magnesium hydroxide can also be used in the preparation of cables, home appliances and the like. In addition, the fine particle size of magnesium hydroxide is small, which is less wear and tear on equipment, which is beneficial to prolong the service life of processing equipment.
